This is my first tab and the Chili Peppers are probably one
of my greatest influences along with Incubus, by the way
if anybody tabs Incubus at all please send me the tabs for
Azwethinkweiz, its old school incubus and nobody has
tabbed it so if anybody is up to it e-mail me, I've tried
everything and i just can't figure it out....., anyway here is
my shot at probably my favorite song on the new album,
Can't Stop, it has that old school funk feel and the rapping
delight of Anthony with John's great canvased guitar work
is just beautiful though many people feel they went pop,
I love the new album. Well try not to laugh here goes.
Intro:
e-------------------------------------------------------
B-------------------------------------------------------
G-------------------------------------------------------
D-------------------------------------------------------
A----5-7--5-7--5-7--5-7--5-7----------------------------
E-------------------------------------------------------
Repeat this as necessary as the drums
build up and into the main riff of the verse.
Verse:
e---------------------------------------------------------
B---------------------------------------------------------
G------7-9--------7-9----------7-9--------7-9-------------
D---------------------------------------------------------
A----7-----7-7-7-----7-7-7-5------5-5-5------5-5-5--------
E---------------------------------------------------------
e-------------------------------------------------------------
B-------------------------------------------------------------
G----7-9---------7-9-----------7-9--------7-9-----------------
D-------------------------------------------------------------
A-------------------------------------------------------------
E--7------7-7-7------7-7-7-8------8-8-8------8-8-8------------
Now as a note of personal perference, if you want to play
the D note as the open string you can i just feel it a cleaner
funk sound if you actually strike the note on the fifth fret,
and for those of you who prefer the chord version the
progression for the song is Em, D, Bm, C repeated over and
over, I use open chords because i tabbed it on my acoustic,
but knowing Frusciante's style he uses barre chords
corresponding to the bass notes of the above riff. For Morpheus1234321,
the whole verse riff is like that, the bass notes on the A string
on the 2nd and 3rd frets are the same notes as the ones on the low E
string on the 7th and 8th frets. Oh and by the way, no pun intended,
your notes on the G string are wrong, I tried the same thing in tabbing
this song and it's not right, try playing it along with the actual song
you will find that this is the correct version. And Sk8tinguitarist,
if you play that extra D note like you're suggesting it is off, it gives an
extra twang that is not in the song, it is merely the sound of how he plucks
the string, I tried your suggestion and it is incorrect, why don't both of you
play it, my version, with the recording and then get back to me with your
"corrections." This tab is correct, face the facts boys. To all you who refuse to see this as correct, I checked the olga board, it is WRONG! Half the notes are the same thing. Those of you who keep saying that this is wrong my friends guitar teacher took my tab and said it was perfect, with the exception of a few chord extensions. For your intro it is D to the E, not E to F#, you must be slow. And for nitsudcabaz your band must suck cause your version is wrong. Learn to play guitar! The solo does ahve bends in it, but I did it without for beginners more its the same sound same note, cry about it if you want to. If you don't trust me this is the real deal, plug in and play it. Then when you see this is right you can slap yourself.
Chorus:
G D Bm C (Repeat)
Now again how you play this depends on your preference of
chords, be it barre or open, so have at it. I used open chords
because they sound better on an acoustic, barre chords
sound better on an electric.
Breakdown:
e--x-12--x-10--x-7--x-8------------------------------
B--x-12--x-10--x-7--x-8------------------------------
G--x-12--x-11--x-7--x-9------------------------------
D----------------------------------------------------
A----------------------------------------------------
E----------------------------------------------------
Each particualr chord is played four times each.
Repeat as necessary then go into solo.
Solo:
e----12--12----------------------------
B-------------15--15--12--12-----------
G---------------------------------12---
D--------------------------------------
A--------------------------------------
E--------------------------------------
e---12--14--------12-----------------------------
B-------------15------12--15---------------------
G----------------------------------14-12---------
D------------------------------------------------
A------------------------------------------------
E------------------------------------------------
For the solo just listen to it to get the timing it's a pretty easy solo,
and for those who don't know, the ^ means a bend, and in this case
it is a full bend both times. One more note for those of you who
like to improvise, the solo is in the key of E, i use the Em pentatonic
scale to improv on this song, but you can use any E related scale.
I fixed the solo it was off before.
Continue the verse until the end of the line: Your image in the
dictionary, this life is more than ordinary. Listen right near the
end of the verse riff and this riff is played over it. The song ends
on that and from there stays vocals only.
e--------------------------------------------------
B--------------------------------------------------
G----7-9^--7-9^--7-9^--7-9^--7-9^------------------
D--------------------------------------------------
A--------------------------------------------------
E--------------------------------------------------
And that is my attempt at the RHCP song "Can't Stop", if you have
any questions or comments e-mail me at [email protected].
Once again a great song, the lyrics you can find online or in the booklet
if you bought it, well worth the twelve bucks i spent.
My name is Jeff have fun with this!
